Write every day?

Why am I about to attempt to write everyday?

Doing something for the sake of doing it is not something we do much as adults. When we’re kids we do things, just for the sake of it, constantly – it’s how we fill our days. We used to passionately build things with Lego, practice our sport, choreograph a dance, memorise song lyrics. As adults we do things for our careers, our responsibilities, our families – but rarely, just for the sake of it.

But we did our best learning when we passionately did things for the sake of doing it; away from scrutiny, judgement – assessment. We were proud of ourselves, shared what we’d done in smaller circles, and couldn’t wait to get back to it. Our Podcast was born from this idea – let’s do something fun, for us, just because.

And so, I’m going to write. For a month? Maybe? We’ll see. For me, for fun, just because.

Why publish it?

It would be decidedly easier to do this privately. Keep a journal, write in it daily, and who would know if I didn’t do it one day, right? I’m an educator. I preach to students about sharing their work, about being brave enough to have other people give their opinions on what you’ve created.

Money where your mouth is, right?
